Twitter

I just signed up for twitter! Follow me at sopadelalfabeto! I am completely new to Twitter and I have to admit, I don't have a great attitude about it yet. I have only recently and reluctantly started using Facebook and I always said I would never use Twitter! As of today, I am following Alicia and my younger sister, who apparently has a Twitter account. I had some trouble finding other RB teachers though.

I am not sure how I will use this in class, but the article Alicia posted on the 17 Things blog gave me some ideas. I can see how it can be useful and I am starting to have a better attitude about it. We'll see how it goes!

Google Docs #4

This is one thing that I have already started using in my level 4 class. Jill McGrath and I set up a google account for our Spanish 4 classes and created sites for students to edit and post their group presentations. This is something she is doing for her National Board work and it has been working well with our classes. Our students can add their portion of the presentation to this site and edit the rest all at the same time. Way to go Jill! We are also using google calendar, since it doesn't seem like Skyward has a great calendar. With all the different activities going on in Spanish IV it is a great way to remind the students of everything. In fact, I like the calendar so much I've been using my own with my gmail account!

Delicious

I just registered on Delicious. It seems like the perfect website for me. I am always saving sites on my favorites list and then much later forgetting what I saved! This is the solution. I can't wait to use it more! Join my network too! My username is bkriordan.

What I'm Following

For this project we are supposed to follow five other blogs. As I was looking at some of the others it was hard for me to narrow it down to just five. Everyone's looks a little different and I'm interested in what everyone is doing. So, I have the other Spanish teachers as well as a few other interesting blogs from the list. As we continue, I'll have to keep watching what other 'bloggers' are doing for 17 Things.

Here's another funny video I found on YouTube from Bueno, entonces

My First Blog

This is the first time I've experimented with a Blog. It's something I've wanted to do and I'm glad this program is pushing me to start! For the first assignment in this program I will be looking for a video discussing technology in the classroom. This is something that is constantly changing education and I have always thought I had a pretty good handle on it...however I'm now realizing just how much more is out there and just how little I've tried!

Technology in the Classroom

This video discusses the uses of Ipods in the classroom. It's an Australian news report interviewing various students and teachers involved in a program utilizing Ipods in classes. Students download all the notes etc from class and can carry it with them at all times.

This video has made me think twice about the use of Ipods in classrooms. I of course have an Ipod and use it frequently for music, but I had not thought of it like this before...there really are so many possibilities with this for all subject areas!
