Library Thing #11

I just signed up for an account with Library Thing. I love to read and think I may actually use this. My sisters and I share books and this is a great way to organize what I have already read as well as get ideas for future books! I love that I can post both novels in English and Spanish too. Ning! #10

I wasn't sure I would like Ning, however after using the RB page it seems really cool as well as useful in the classroom. I can definitely see how I could use this with all of my classes and will plan to check in with the RB page as well!

Gadgets #9!

I have figured out how to add gadgets to this blog and did so without any problem, however my slideshow isn't appearing. I am hoping it's just a problem with my computer or with flickr, because I think I set it up correctly. In addition to the slideshow, I also added a welcome gadget and search gadget.

I have had a Flickr account that I've never really used...well only to view other people's pictures. It was pretty easy to use though and my account name is
riordan13. Enjoy the slideshow...that is if I can get it to work!

Google Reader

Wow, I really love Google Reader! I have never used it before, but as soon as I opened it up, it already had saved all the other blogs I've been following. I then added subscriptions to NPR as well as the NY Times World edition. I also added my dad's political blog to my list just for some variety. I really can see myself using this in the future. It will be so easy to keep up with everything I'm interested in at once.

Weebly

Wow, it's been too long since I've worked on my 17 Things! I'm way behind! I finally have a good 'start' to my webpage on Weebly. It took me a little time to get the hang of it, but it feels good to have a small idea of how it works. I still have several things to edit and add, but at least it's a start. It seems like a great way to get started with a website, but I did feel a little restricted with some of their options. I wanted to create some of my own designs, but without remembering html stuff, which I used 10 years ago, I was stuck with their designs. It also looks like in order to have a more advanced webpage you have to pay a subscription...I'm not sure if the other web design site is like this as well. Twitter

I just signed up for twitter! Follow me at sopadelalfabeto! I am completely new to Twitter and I have to admit, I don't have a great attitude about it yet. I have only recently and reluctantly started using Facebook and I always said I would never use Twitter! As of today, I am following Alicia and my younger sister, who apparently has a Twitter account. I had some trouble finding other RB teachers though.

I am not sure how I will use this in class, but the article Alicia posted on the 17 Things blog gave me some ideas. I can see how it can be useful and I am starting to have a better attitude about it. We'll see how it goes!
